Accessibility Policy
Statement from Stephanie
As representatives of our constituents, we have a duty to lead by example. Personally, and as the representative for Don Valley West I am committed to ensuring barrier free access for employees and constituents. I am committed to ensuring my staff are trained to support people of differing abilities and have asked them to report to my any instances in which an employee or constituent fails to get access to equal support and services, so that I can ensure that barrier is removed.
Accessibility Policy
As a small team, ensuring employees and constituents feel welcome and supported will come down to the training of our team. As Stephanie mentioned in her remarks above, our office must lead by example. As we develop our office's resources, we will ensure that we apply a lens of how people with different abilities could interact with our office.
As we set up our office and expand services, we are committed to ensuring there are no physical or digital barriers to accessing the services of our constituency office.
Regarding disruption of access to the building we maintain the following policies: We share public spaces with other office tenants and with the building management. We will publicly report any changes to the accessibility of our office due to construction or damage. At that time, we will ensure that our secondary entrance is fully accessible with the use of temporary ramps and provide signage on the door providing guidance on how to access the building and services during the disruption. Our office is not allocated any accessible parking space. In the event of changes to transit stops around our office we will provide public information on alternative ways to reach our office and provide updates to constituents when the disruption has ended.
Stephanie Bowman strives to meet the needs of its employees and customers with disabilities and is working hard to remove and prevent barriers to accessibility.
Stephanie Bowman is committed to fulfilling our requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. This accessibility plan outlines the steps we are taking to meet those requirements and to improve opportunities for people with disabilities. Our plan shows how we will play our role in making Ontario an accessible province for all Ontarians. The plan is reviewed and updated at least once every 5 years. We train every person as soon as practicable after being hired and provide training in respect of any changes to the policies. We maintain records of the training provided including the dates on which the training was provided and the number of individuals to whom it was provided.
Statement of Commitment
The Office of Stephanie Bowman is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for people with disabilities. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence.
We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Ontario’s accessibility laws.
